Paoli/Thorndale outbound trains from Center City were suspended this morning right before morning rush hour and again Tuesday evening because of wire problems, a SEPTA spokesperson said.
“We are having significant delays on the Paoli/Thorndale Line due to downed wires near 37th and Mantua. Amtrak is working on it, but we expect the delays will last through the evening,” SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch said in a 6:45 p.m. email.
Service also was disrupted Tuesday morning on both the inbound and outbound Cynwyd Line, but that service has since resumed.
Amtrak reported at least one train delay earlier in the day.
Damage to overhead catenary wires at an Amtrak railway junction near the Philadelphia Zoo, which some SEPTA regional rail services like Paoli/Thorndale and Cynwyd share, delayed and suspended some rail service across the region, Busch said earlier on Tuesday.
An Amtrak spokesperson said crews responded and restored service in both directions by approximately 7:25 a.m.
