Source: Jaylen Brown did not ask for trade from Celtics, refuting a report from Boston analyst
A source contradicted a report from Celtics analyst Brian Scalabrine, who later walked back his own words saying Brown requested a trade from Boston.

Sixers forward Jaylen Brown did not request a trade from the Boston Celtics in the offseason prior to the deal that sent Brown to Philadelphia, a source confirmed to The Inquirer Monday night.
That contradicted an earlier radio report from Celtics TV analyst Brian Scalabrine, who later walked back his report.
On a Sirius XM radio show Monday, Scalabrine said that Brown had presented a list of demands to the Celtics this offseason and then requested a trade, preferably to the Milwaukee Bucks. Scalabrine said Brown was calling teammates about potentially joining him in Milwaukee.

On a later appearance before the Celtics’ game against the Chicago Bulls Monday night, Scalabrine walked back his comments and said Brown “technically” didn’t demand a trade and that he had “no idea” what demands Brown may have made of the Celtics.
The source confirmed an ESPN report that after a potential trade to Milwaukee didn’t materialize, Brown only asked for input on his destination should the team trade him.
The back-and-forth comes after a week full of new drama in the aftermath of Brown’s breakup with the Celtics, the team with whom he spent the first 10 years of his career and won a championship in 2024.
Last week, Brown insinuated that Celtics forward Jayson Tatum was lying when Tatum said that the Brown trade took him by surprise. Brown responded to a video of Tatum’s comments on Instagram with a cap emoji, internet slang for saying someone is not telling the truth.
Then, after the Sixers win on Saturday against Milwaukee, Brown commented on his relationship with Tatum, saying that while there was “no beef” between the two, there “might be a little lamb chops and some gravy.”

“There’s no beef. Jayson comes from a wonderful family,” Brown said. “We’ve accomplished some great things. He’s a hell of a basketball player.
“He got a great [public relations] team. There’s no beef, but it might be a little lamb chops and some gravy. You know what I mean? He should stay ready at all times.”
The Celtics come to Philadelphia on Nov. 10 for Brown’s first regular season matchup against his old team.
