House of the week: A one-bedroom loft in Old City for $312,999
Amenities include views of the Ben Franklin Bridge.

For airline pilots Janelle and Mike Long, buying the one-bedroom loft in Old City was a team effort.
Mike, who flies for American Airlines, picked the unit, working with a Realtor and sending pictures to Janelle, who flies for United, in Denver.
Then she came east to do most of the decorating.
But now, the Longs and their 2-year-old son are planning a permanent move to the Jersey Shore.
The couple, who met in the Air National Guard in 2016, bought the unit in 2023.
“We just loved the vibe of the neighborhood,” said Mike, who grew up in Bucks County. “I fell in love with Old City. You know you’re in the city but it’s not the big city.”
He contrasted it with a visit to New York City where “everyone’s pushing past you.”
The 890-square-foot unit has timber-beamed ceilings, oak floors, exposed brick, and floor-to-ceiling historically certified replacement windows.
It is on the third floor of an elevator building on a cobblestone street.
Several windows offer views of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
The bedroom can easily accommodate a king-size bed and has an exposed brick accent wall and a walk-in closet.
The galley kitchen has Shaker-style wood cabinetry, stone countertops, and a wide passage to the living room.
Easily accessible attractions include the Blue Cross RiverRink, Spruce Street Harbor Park, the Liberty Bell, Elfreth’s Alley, and neighborhood art galleries.
The Second Street Station on the El is around the corner, and there is a parking garage steps away.
The unit is listed by Dina Patton of KW Empower for $312,999.
