A 33-year-old Philadelphia man is wanted for murder and related crimes after police said he attacked three women at random inside a West Oak Lane beauty salon Monday afternoon, shooting and killing one and pistol-whipping the others. He then sexually assaulted one of the women, police said.

Jamal Pistoria walked into ABBA Blessed Beauty Salon around 2 p.m. Monday and took three women into the back of the store, police said. He shot Ofelia Bellaniri Hernandez Camill, 34, in the head as she tried to defend herself, according to police and an employee of the salon. She was rushed to the hospital and later died from her injuries.

Before police arrived, Pistoria pistol-whipped two other women who worked at the salon, ages 33 and 44, and sexually assaulted one of them before fleeing, Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore said.

He called the incident horrific, and said it wasn’t clear what motivated the attack.

It did not appear that Pistoria knew the women, and he took only a small amount of money on his way out of the store, according to a law enforcement source who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss on ongoing investigation.

Pistoria is expected to be charged with murder, sexual assault, indecent assault, attempted murder, robbery, and related crimes, prosecutors said.

Police said he could still be in the West Oak Lane area, near the 1500 block of Tulpehocken Street.

The salon, on the 6300 block of Stenton Avenue, sits along a busy strip of businesses near Washington Lane. A woman who worked with the owner of the salon posted a video to the business’ Facebook page Tuesday, describing the woman who was killed as a warm and loving colleague.

She asked that people pray for and show respect for their “dear Bella” and her family. Police said Hernandez Camill was from the Morningside Heights section of New York City. Her family could not be immediately reached for comment.

In a GoFundMe page created to pay for the woman’s funeral, the business said the owner of the salon, Arisleidy Pérez Gil, was also seriously injured and would need arm surgery. In a 2025 article published by El Sol, Pérez Gil said she had emigrated from the Dominican Republic.
